Last year at about this time I set myself the challenge of publishing a short blog post every day of September. I had a book to promote - the very wonderful Storycraft, which has so far gone down a treat - and I had itchy fingers. I wanted to get back into the habit of writing daily after a short summer break, so the thirty blog-posts thing seemed a decent enough way to get up and running again.
I enjoyed it, and you folks seemed to as well. So this year I'll be doing it again, but with a difference. I'll write something like twenty of the posts - maybe fewer - and the rest will be short contributions from writer pals. I've been delighted by their generous offers to contribute a micro-post inspired by the title One Cool Thing. They'll be telling you about one cool thing they're looking forward to as Autumn approaches. It might be a book or movie, a tabletop or computer game, an event or visit to a special place, a chance to achieve something... or perhaps even an exciting new project. I can't wait to hear what's getting people excited as we enter a new season. You'll be hearing from - and this is strictly alphabetical order, folks - Tony Ballantyne, Marie Basting, Niel Bushnell, Chris Callaghan, Anne Cassidy, Dom Conlon, Kerry Drewery, Ruth Estevez, Curtis Jobling, Eugene Lambert, Jon Mayhew, Emma Pass and Dan Smith... plus, I hope, a few others. It's all starting on September 1st. See you there. |
